Engine stall & high idle & MIL codes, oh my...
History,
I'm only including the following paragraph in JUST IN CASE it may have some pertinent information, but I do not believe the problems to be related.
I currently believe that my ABS control module is in need of rebuild because my ABS light, BRAKE light, and tracs light are on along with MIL codes indicating brake switch position. This has been the scenario for a couple of months no and has not affected drivability with the exception of no ABS, no cruise, and no odometer.
A few months prior to the ABS light coming on, I began experiencing what I believe was a random but frequent misfire at idle. There were no MIL on. I replaced several parts and performed a few maintenance items that I had been neglecting up until that point in hopes of fixing the problem along the way. New parts include spark plugs, alternator, timing belt & pulleys, & air filter. Problem went unresolved.
Today I started my car after work and it immediately stalled. I restarted it and the idle was higher than normal, and kind-of sputtering. After several seconds, the idle stabilized somewhat at between 900 & 1100 RPM but was still fluctuating constantly. I tried revving the engine, but the gas pedal was non-responsive. After a re-start, the problem was the same, but the gas pedal worked. I drove the car home.
On the way home, I noticed that the idle was high and that when I took my foot off the gas, the car would continue at very near the same RPM as it was before I removed my foot. It would slow down, but would take much longer that normal. Once, I was coasting, and the car stalled again. I restarted it, and the gas pedal was non-responsive again. After coming to a complete stop, shutting down, and re-starting, I was able to get the car home.
Error codes present upon getting home were P0068, & P0221. After clearing the codes, I restarted the car, and the idle was still high, but was steady.. I checked codes again and got P0507. This code kept returning after being cleared.
I know the generic descriptions of these codes, but based on the post, can anyone tell me where to look for the source of this problem? I'm thinkin' throttle body, but I don't wan't want to waste $550 on a Xemodex rebuild if that's not the problem. I don't believe my vehicle is included in the list of throttle body TSB vehicles.
Sorry for the long post, but hopefully it'll help.
Thanks,
Adam

UPDATE: problem occurred again yesterday on my way to work. Gas pedal stopped functioning after a slow coasting turn. Continued to run weird after re-start. Got home in the evening and scanned for codes. Had a P2096 code come up.
Anyone have any ideas / suggestions?

So long Gents... I decided to cut my losses before getting in any deeper with this car. I traded 'er in on a new Dodge. Tomorrow I'll see her off on her journey to the afterlife. I guess I'll never know for sure what was causing the random misfires...but that's OK with me I suppose.

friend of mine told me a similar story about him replacing a module near the throttle body on an S80.
he said he found a new one and put it in and the car still didnt idle right until he went to a dealer and had them reprogram the computer for that new module to work
not saying this is the cause but with all the other dummy lights on I wouldnt want to go much deeper aswell
good luck with the new dodge
