I have a 2004 s60 2.5t and when I'm gunnin her she has these engine surges or pulses under hard acceleration... does anyone know if there was an software upgrade for that year... and what could it be? My turbor gauge also flickers up to 1.0 bar and I'm certain that their hasnt been any ECU upgrades.. she normally boosts to .5 bar. Let me know thanks!

My S40 had the same problem and after 12 trips to the dealer, the warranty rep. came out and suggested a transmission flush ($460) which solved the problem. My car had under 10,000 miles when the problem began to occur.

 

ETM,' trans flush would have absolutely nothing to do with it.

 

are there any software upgrades under warranty for that year and model?

 

Call dealer with the VIN and they can tell you. Chances are that you haven't had the transmission software update (that will cost you it's out of warranty). But, the ETM is extended warranty until 200K. There is a software update they will do for free if it hasn't been done yet. If the ETM is acting up and they can duplicate it, I believe they may put a new one in for NADA.
You probably want to exchange trans fluid as well.

 

I would take it to the dealer. May be a boost pressure control valve
