Default few questions

???i have a '05 S60 (2.5T awd)... i had heard that doing your own custom modifications these cars without ecu upgrades can mess with the ecu and throw the car into "limp" mode. im wondering because i talked to a local shop in the area with a mandrel bending pipe machine and was wondering if i could have a 3" turbo back exhaust made for around 350-400$ at this local shop fully installed and welded and also make my own heat shield and air intake would these mods. cause any problems with the ecu...

Nope, those mods should have no affect to the ECU.

If you do 3" all the way back, you might loose some low end torque.
I would do a 3" downpipe to a 2.5" cat-back.
Unless you are going to do more mods, like more boost, then go ahead with the 3" all the way.

Looking at you SIG...Go with the PPC RICA tuner and do the custom exhaust and intake.

ok thanks that'll save some cash instead of paying 700+ for the exhaust and 200ish for th intake that could be made for around 75$...

another question that i wanted to ask last night was changing the diverter valve from the OEM one to a forge 007, a few friends have the 1.8T audi/VW's with this and i prefer the sound which is slightly louder would this change be ok or will that affect anything upon the ecu or how the engine runs ???

No, That shouldn't have any affect on the ECU...

I have heard that on a volvo like mine (745t), if i was to install a BOV that vented to the atmosphere instead of back into my intake, that that would confuse the ecu.

You should have no problems.

Edit: Get get a free-flowing and free-flowing muffler/mufflers like magna flow.

hey i was looking around and everyone talks about swapping the 13g turbo to say the 16/18/19t...which if i looked it up right it is a TD04 family...i used to be into DSM talon/eclipse and know they also use the TD04 series compressors. i found the jdm TD04 16g today for 200 on ebay ... will this turbo be the same as say the 16T and bolt up all around from exh. manifold to turbo ...turbo to downpipe, all oil/water lines? here the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDMS-...Q5fAccessories

That one in the link is a TD05H-16G you need a TD04HL-16T, like this.
I would stick with the volvo models. Make sure that it is a straight flange and not the angel flange.
The TD05H has a different compressor set up than the TD04HL. You would have to machine the exhaust manifold to make it work.

TD05H-16G

TD04HL-16T
