Default First issue: window switch

Ok, i think i have a unique issue here....

The passenger window switch (on the driver's side) is stuck... the button works to go UP, but when you press down, it doesn't move at all... just completely frozen (feels like something is stuck inside it.)

The window itself works perfectly (from the passenger-side switch). I can lower it with the switch on the passenger side, and raise it with the switch from the driver's side. Annoying, but it works.

So it's obviously a switch problem, more specifically a problem with that button itself.

Should i try taking it apart and cleaning it? One of the threads on here talked about losing the ball bearings and now needing to get a whole new module. Ugh, I don't want that to happen.

Anyone see this before? Or have any advice? Or at the very least, should I or should I not open this module up and check it out?

Thanks.

-Dave

on the old 9 series and before you could do this. What you got is a bad switch module. You should check to see if there are any codes stored in the CEM (Central Control Module) that would require a trip to a dealer or specialty shop.

You might inspect the wiring to the switch, especially where the harness bends when the door is open & closed. I have seen breaks in the wiring before. This may at least confirm a bad module.
