Flushing Brake Lines (How much fluid)
I am going to be flushing my brake lines this weekend for the 37,500 mile service and I cannot find documentation on how much fluid the system would use. Any experience out there on a 2006 2.5T FWD?
Normally most vehicles take about .4 to .5 litre..
When I did my s80 used almost an entire .5l litre bottle of Motul RBF600
If you want a nice tip, use a high quality racing dot4 fluid such as ATE Superblue , or Motul 600.. lasts longer and gives a much better pedal feel

This is a good post concerning that

You won't find any dot4 plus in nearly anywhere you look.. As a result, I choose to go with DOT 5.1 (non-silicone) or DOT4 racing with their increased boiling points and lack of compressibility...
Once again, you would be hard pressed to find those in any advance auto..
If you have time to spare and can wait a few days for shipment,
check out

The ATE superblue is amazing value for the price,
the brembo and the motul are just a bit better than the ATE but not worth it for a stock car..
You won't regret the switch as the fluid will last longer between flushes..

Needless to say, they didn't have the proper level of brake fluid so I am on the hunt. Thank you for the links and insight. The fluid looked pretty clean so I am going to wait until the spring/summer when I do the next oil change to flush the system.
DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC FLUID.
I have cans of brake fluid in stock.Cans of fluid are 8.5OZ and are $6.50 a piece. It is Volvo brand DOT4+ fluid. If you dont want Volvo fluid, the only thing I recommend is Castrol GTLMA.
In a regular service Volvo (non race App) you will never reach the wet boiling point of DOT4+ fluid.

You say do not use Synthetic, you are aware that Castrol GT LMA is a synthetic DOT4 right? At least they claim so on the bottle...
Sorry to oppose you blownby, but $12 + shipping can buy you 1litre, aka ~33oz of ATE Superblue/Amber TYP200 brake fluid which is vastly superior to the volvo stuff..

I was looking at a bottle of GT LMA and a can of Volvo fluid and got the two mixed up and quickly typed it in.
Yea it doesnt say anything about being DOT anything.Just says it exceeds DOT 3 and 4.
Volvo DOT 4+ says on the can,Minimum wet boiling point is 380*.
Just make sure you get all the old out.Dont want to mix the two.
