Default Fog Light Wiring S60

I'd like to install fog lights on my 2004 S60, but the car is not even pre-wired. How hard is that part of the job?

Usually they are prewired for the lights.

Yes,usually, and the Volvo parts guy said that the pre-wiring would be obvious if I removed the oblong filler piece on the driver's side front spoiler. But I don't see nothin'. At least nothing that looks even remotely electrical.

It is usually tucked off to the side.
Up in the back side of the front bumper.

Glad to hear they are prewired. As foggy as its been here the past few days I've started to seriously think about adding them to my S60.

If they are prewired and you have the rear fog light, will wiring front fogs into the harness mean that the switch for the rear fog will operate the front fogs too? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes The S60's are fog light pre wired. And like someone said, they are conected to a dead harness far on the sides of the bumper. As far as the switch goes, the rear fog lamp switch is independent of the front fog lights. Right next to that switch (left of it), there is a dead switch. Just pull it out, it's like a cap, and you will discover that there is a switch behind it, which is lit as well. All you need is a switch cap, which you can get special ordered from your local Volvo dealer, for aprox. $30.00, and software upgrade so that the car's network can recognize the lights and allow them to work.

Are you serious? I'll need to have to software updated to make one of the simplest circuits known to man function? Is that a "dealer only" situation too?

Yes pretty much Dealer only.
Some indipendant shops can do it but not many want to spend the $$ to be able to do it.

Sorry to bring this post back from the dead but I'm looking to do the exact same thing on my 04' V70.

However, what I want to know is where is the best place to buy the fog lights? I've seen them on eBay but thinking there might be a better option? Should I check my local euro car junk yard or is that not wise? Also I'm guessing I could pull the cap/button for the fog lights from a junk car too.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I went ahead and ordered fog lights for my 2004 S40, as the wires were there and I thought the rear fog light switch was the one for the front! Yea, Sure!
Then I read about reprogramming at the dealer for too much money! Then I read about the front switch 'cover' mentioned in this thread. So I removed the cover on both the rear fog light and front 'dummy' cover, compared them both, cut some of the plastic away from the 'dummy'.... It works fine! even the green light on the instrument cluster lights!

No programming needed!!

Now to locate a proper switch cover with the icon on it.....
