Default Fubar after TB cleaning

Need some input. 2001 S60 2.4l turbo won't stay on after cleaning the throttle body. The car turns over and stays on with foot on the gas. Foot fully pushed on the gas doesn't rev the engine, RPMs at 2000. Let off the gas, it dies. What should I check?

Anybody? The car turns over quickly, it just won't idle. Possible vacuum leak?

You didn't knock loose the PTC Element at all did you??? If any part of the PCV system has a leak in it, you will have an unstable idle and the car will die. Also have you checked the MAF? If it got knocked loose it would give you the same kind of problems.

It is possible something got knocked loose when removing hose that connects underneath to the throttle body.

I will unplug the MAF and re-sit it. Is the PTC Element the thick hose in bottom/front/by oil dip stick that connects the turbo hose (hose over top of engine?)?

Really appreciate the response.

The PTC element is the sensor that sits at the base of the intake pipe right next to the turbo. It should have IIRC, 3 hoses coming off of it. If any of those hoses got knocked loose (or the sensor its self) it will create a massive Vacuum leak and cause your car to stall.

Thanks Mad Matt. Checked the PTC and MAF. Disconnected MAF sensor. Nothing seems loose. The car still will not idle, won't stay on without my foot on the gas. Would the throttle body gasket being put on incorrectly cause a leak? It has a slight ridge and I wasn't sure which side goes up.

The CEL is not on. Would damaged electroincs on the throttle body cause this problem? Is it possible to replace just the electronics?

Would a throttle body itself be bad? If I replace it , then I'll need to have the car towed to the dealer for the software upgrade/reset. Does anyone know how much that costs?

Here's some info that might help.

PM me if you have specific questions. Check and double check the supply voltage, lubricate the o-rings with thin synthetic oil, cleaning could make them very dry and add friction to the rotation of the plate.

I ordered a new Volvo ETM/TB from FCP Groton. Finally installed it when the weather permitted. Having it towed to the dealer for the software flash this week. Has anyone had any luck getting reimbursed for the part and then dealer diagnostics/labor? Thanks for words of wisdom.
