Default Heavy smoking when idling

I'm wondering what would cause my car to smoke profusely after a couple minutes of idling? I just had it in the shop and they put a new PVC system in. It's been smoking like this for quite some time. Car runs very well otherwise.

2002 S60 AWD

Thanks!

Is it white or black smoke? Does it sound like it is loading up (bogging down) when it starts to smoke? Is it using oil? More information would make the problem easier to diagnose.

It is kind of a grey smoke. I should check the oil level - I just had the oil changed and should really figure out where the starting point on the dipstick is.

It used to really shudder before belching out a big dose of smoke, but that was before I had the MAP sensor replaced (same time as the oil change and PVC replacement).

It seems to have decent turbo power at least when I take off I can definately feel the turbo. How can a person be sure if the turbo is bad or not?

It is actually blue smoke - confirmed it today.

Usually the best way to check the turbo is to remove the hose and inspect the inside of the turbo.

Any directions on this site for doing that? How long would it take the average joe to do?

No directions on this site.
But you will need to remove the induction hose and exhaust to inspect it.

If I were to do that (what you say), what would I be looking for?

You will follow the big hose from the Air filter box to the engine. Remove that hose and then feel inside the turbo.
