Default HELP! - Cannot manually open trunk

I have a 2020 Volvo S60 and I just can’t figure out how to access/open my trunk manually. The issue that I have is that my battery died. It is defective and won’t charge/boost through a jump cable. It needs to be replaced but I can’t access/open my trunk manually as that’s where the battery is. The car cannot start and no electrical function including folding down the rear seats to get to the trunk would work.

There must be a way. correct? as my old Volvo used to have a manual key slot to get to the trunk but I don’t see anything like it with this car. Much appreciated with any advice.

Well, if you can drop the back seats and crawl in enough to pull the emergency trunk opener (it should glow yellow) that should open the trunk!

Thank you but the back seat latch is also electric (ie only works if battery is working). Otherwise, the seats won’t fold. Why Volvo didn’t make this manual as well, I’d never know.

did you look under the hood for auxilary battery jump terminals? Not sure about your model but other Volvos with their battery in the trunk have extra jumper terminals under the hood.

That's how my BMW worked but I don't remember that being available on the S60

That is a bad idea. Always give a mechanical back up for simple systems like that.

Even if the main battery is defective and won’t charge?

If you can open the hood, you can connect to the jump start port and provide enough power to open the trunk. That will allow access to the battery for inspection or replacement. If you simply wanted to re charge the battery (it was dead/weak but still good) you can charge the battery from the post underneath the hood also.
