How to reset the Battery Monitor Sensor for 2016 V60/2017 S60?
Hi all, I am wondering how to reset the battery monitor sensor after you replace the battery. The dealership kept telling me only they or people who have VIDA can do it or it'll cause all sorts of problems, like currently my start/stop not working at all for my 2016 V60 (the button light does come on though) is due to the battery issue - the dealer said if you put 3rd party battery (which will be 200 dollar cheaper than if they put it in for me) without the dealer's resetting it then you can still drive but you will have limited functions and you'll have to replace the battery every year, etc...I am guessing what works for the older Volvos, like disconnecting the negative terminal for 10 minutes, won't work for mine?
BTW, the dealer said both the main and 2nd battery need to be replaced, I can't seem to find the specs on the manual for the 2nd/auxiliary battery. Where is the secondary battery and is there 3rd party battery I can buy too and do it myself? Also, if I just replace the secondary battery, do I need to reset BMS too?
Thanks.

There's a few vids on youtube for hacks on resetting the bms without VIDA. here's one.

The long lost start/stop function came right back! Both the dates and BLIS function icon started appearing on the screen, which I haven't seen before. Obviously the previous owner didn't reset BMS when the battery was replaced before. There's a few vids on youtube for hacks on resetting the bms without VIDA. here's one.

This worked on my 2018 V60. Thank you for posting!
Hi, just changed the battery on my wifes V40 II. There was a need of four pushes to the hazard light button instead of three on my specific modell. Otherwise the same procedure.
Many thanks for the help!
