Default hu613 question

I hope somebody can shed some light on my question. The CD player quit working on the 2nd yes the second HU613 I put in my S60. I think it is those Yoko Ono CDs hahaha. In 05 I had gone to the dealership, gave him the serial# of the salvage HU613 and and they had put in the code. Well, I got a another one from ebay for 30 bucks and looks like it is in running condition. Does anyone know if the process still works much in the same manner? Give the service writer the serial # of the HU, get a theft code? Or does the VIDA have to marry the salvage HU to the VIN of my vehicle? I am not comfortable paying 2.5h labor to get a theft code for a double DIN radio nobody in their right mind would steal. I haven't been to the dealer in 2.5 years since the my indie mechanic is awesome in Lexington KY. Anyways, if anybody has any ideas I certainly would appreciate it. Also, I would like to point out that the CUBBIES are going to dominate this year hehe. I will eat these words once again during all-star break.[&o]

Default RE: hu613 question

Here is my update on the issue since nobody ventured into swapping hu613s in 7 year old Volvos before I. At any rate, yes the salvage hu has to be married to the car's network through a s/w download and it costs 463 buckaroos. I opted not to get it and put my old the old hu back in there with the ipod thingy.
