Default Ignition left on - no electrics

I have a 2002 Volvo S60 T5 and somehow 'we' managed to leave the ignition on( 6-7 hours). We now have no electrical power in the car what so ever, it is completely dead, nothing nada zilch - I have tested the battery and that seems to be ok.

I suspect the ignition coil is damaged/burnt out but can not be sure

Is this a likely sympton from leaving ignition on?

appreciate anyones thoughts

thanks for the reply

I am charging the battery now - but as I said there seems to be at least a little power in it. Enough I would have thought to get a little response from it ie lights.

Haven't used Jumper leads yet - will need to find a friendly neighbour

I always thought that leaving the ignition on would burn out the coil but perhaps that is just with older cars

Sounds like you just need a jump. Let it run for a while so the battery can charge back up.

the S60 have so many electronic devices that if the battery is not almost at full power things do not work right or do not even power on..
I had a battery go flat after a while even with 9V on the battery nothing would light up. locks would not work, nada zip as soon as i hooked up the jumper cables.. BAM, everything came to life..car was not happy for a bit about 50 miles or so but after that everything went back to normal, shifting was the main problem after the dead battery

This will most likely NOT work on Volvos.

trickle charge it with 2amps.

To further my own knowledge, why is that? What exactly won't work?

These cars just will not charge it a lot if it is below 2-3k rpms, it really only maintains it. You can try it though.

Yep! Based on the information in VADIS, these cars can and will even drain the battery if left at idle for too long. I was pretty shocked when I read that, and I think it's absurd. But, those are the facts. You gotta drive it to charge it.
