iiiTIME FOR REGULAR SERVICE!!!
Hey guys, yesterday I got a message on my '04 S60 that says "time for regular service". The car has 72.5k miles, and I bought it certified.
What kind of service is this that the car requires, and how much do I expect to pay at the dealership? if I know what the car needs, maybe I can take it somewhere else.
Thanks all

Join here, it's free. You can find owner's manuals, maintenance charts, etc.

Go to the owner's library and enter your car's info, gives you this...

I don't know about the cost, I don't have that kind of mileage yet.

Don't freak out. It is a normal message based on the mileage intervals. It's only a reminder to have the oil changed, which you have probably already done. There is a sequencethat has to be done involving resetting the trip and turning the ignition key. You can find the specifics by using the search function, since it varies by year slightly.
Hi,
The Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) will go off in so many miles and I believe it's 7500, but I can't remember for sure.
Here is how you reset it:
Put your key in and turn it to Ignition position I.
Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer.
Turn your key to the Ignition position II position within 2 seconds.
Hold the reset button for the trip meter until it resets.
A general yellow lamp will light when the reset button must be released if you were successful.
Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 4 seconds after getting the general lamp.
The instrument gives an audible signal when resetting has succeeded.
If the trip meter is already reset the reset button should be held in for a minimum of 10 seconds and a maximum of 14 seconds.
If the reset button for the trip odometer is not released within 4 seconds, the service reminder indicator (SRI) is not reset.
You may have to try it a couple of times to get your timing on correctly. I reset my own all time time. I have a 2003. I think I use it for tire rotation, not to go get ganked by the dealer for 100s of dollars to "inspect" my car.
Good luck to you...
