Default Instrument Panel Not Working

Went to the Packer game today and left I started up my manual 03 S60 (106k) and the instrument panel did not light up and the gauges didn't move. Drove the rest of the way home just by flow of traffic. When I got home I checked every fuse I could find and couldn't find a blown one. When I started it back up after that, everything worked! Then I took it for a little drive and about 4 minutes later it went out again. Repeat that process again, and sure enough after about 5 minutes it stopped working again. Any thoughts?? I's stumped!! Thanks

join the club...probably needs to be replaced...dealership wants $1,000-$1,400..there are other posts about this problem which have different solutions which are cheaper than the dealership quotes

What do I need to know about buying a replacement instrument cluster used? I've found a few on eBay salvage yards but I have no idea what details to look for.

the quickest easiest way would probably be to buy a scangauge..its a device u plug into the slot for the obd reader. this device gives live accurate info about the car plus its a diagnostic tool which helps trouble shoot codes. ScanGaugeE : Linear Logic - Home of the ScanGauge they are about $150

You need a new DIM/Drivers information module, commonly known as the instrument cluster. Or you can send it to xemodex for a cheaper rebuild

So just installed my rebuilt DIM from Xemodex yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. First of the price WITH SHIPPING was about 1/3 of the dealership quote at about $425 ($349 for the repair and $74 for shipping). I sent it out on Monday and had it back on Friday around noon(unbelieveable to be since I didn't pay for upgraded shipping and it went to Canada). It was easy to remove (hardest part is getting the surround off). Install was just as easy and now its working like a charm. Actually it seems to be brighter and clearer than before.

Now the only thing I need to do is to clear the "SRS Airbag Service Urgent" message. Any way to do this without going to the dealer? Disconect the battery?

Thanks to you guys for recommending Xemodex!!

actually you can easily send out your cluster to get repaired for under $200. I just did it. Go to Ebay and lookup seller euro-electric. They give you easy instructions on how to pop out your panel, mail it to them and they ship it back fixed 1 2 3. Dont do like I did and wait for years and trying everything under the sun.

There are other sellers that seem more expensive out there.
or can search.
"VOLVO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPAIR". If you dont want to use ebay
you can just call them. 866 281 2414.

No I dont work there i just used their service and boy I wish i knew about it earlier
