was it just a fluke?
I have an '02 S60 AWD, and recently after a 2 hour trip in warm weather (85-90 degrees) I turned off the vehicle. Upon returning to the vehicle (approx. 40 minutes later) I noticed the A/C blower fan was either STILL running or had turned itself on while I was not there. It was definately the A/C blower and not the engine cooling fan, because when I got in the car, the vents were blowing air. I had to turn the ignition forward (didn't start the car) then back and took out the key, and the blower then turned off. Any ideas why this happened? Is this a sign of impending troubles? I'm glad I wasn't away from the car for any longer or the battery may have been drained.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam

That was perfectly normal. The blower will come on and run until any moisture in the system is gone. Then it will shut off. This is done to keep from having mold and mildew build up in the A/C system. I had the same question the first time it happened to me.
Happened in my 93 Eagle Vision TSI. The AC evaporator in the Concord, Eagle, & Intrepid had fins that ran horizontally, not vertical. Moisture would not run off, resulting in mold or mildew. Got a horrible smell from the AC vents. Chrysler had a bulletin out on it - I think they flushed the evaporator with some chemical. I sprayed Lysol into the cowl vent with the fan on high to kill it.
Since the water would not run off, the horizontal fins also made the evaporator prone to freezing over in high humidity. Air flow through vents would gradually diminish, and I would have to shut the AC off until it melted clear.
Other than that it was a really great car. Handled great, good mileage, adequate power, comfortable. Actually fun to drive.
