Just a few questions - Recently purchased - 2002 Volvo S60 AWD *PICS INSIDE*
Hello all. So my wife and I recently purchased a 2002 S60 (got it yesterday actually). It has 73,000 miles on it and it is in prestine condition (at least the interior). It feels great, drives great and we are so happy with the purchase so far. This is our first Volvo, she’s only ever driven a Pathfinder I’ve driven a few Hondas, Mazda and BMW e36.
Here are a few of our concerns so far:
We noticed the exclamation light illuminated and the message saying routine servicing needed. So I scoured this forum and found some useful information as to the use and purpose of the warning light and how to even reset the routine service message. This morning we saw a second message flashed something along the lines of “replace positioning bulb?”. After about 5 minutes of driving, all the messages went away and the warning light also went away and didn’t reappear after close to an hour worth of driving. Cause for concern? Electrical issues?
So we were bored by the radio and decided to turn it off in our hour long drive this morning. We suddenly noticed that every time we pressed and release the brake we would hear an ‘hissing’ sound and a chime (or ding?). The hissing sound wasn’t of much concern to me because I remember that’s similar to how my BMW e36 sounded when I owned it every time I pressed the brake. The chime/ding occurring at the same time though, caught my attention. Even though I wasn’t driving, the brake seemed to work perfect enough or my wife would have made that known immediately (she’s a worrier). Cause for concern? Serious braking problems? Or just little nuisances we will have to get used to? I hope it’s the latter.
One last thing and it’s not really a concern of mine but rather my wife’s, the wiper seems a bit noisy and we are no sure if it’s defective and shouldn’t make any noticeable sound or this is normal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to your advice and experience.
- Jmac
