Default Key Fobs stopped locking/unlocking car

Had car batter replaced, cabin air filter, and tires rotated and went to get into car but the key fob now will not lock/unlock the car. The car will not start with the fob in the car unless it is inserted (before it would start if the key fob was located inside the car). Neither key fob will lock/unlock the car nor will the car identify the key fob is in the car to start. Child is about to leave for college and no one seems to know how to resolve this issue, the car cannot be locked at this point. It is obviously something to do with the car not picking up on the key fob. It worked when I dropped off the car for service but not after I picked it up. Makes no sense. 2013 Volvo S60 T5. The worst thing about a Volvo is no one seems to know how to fix them right! Any help would be appreciated by this tired parent....

I'm assuming by "no one knows how to fix them" you are referring to independent shops? Plenty of people know how to fix them. You'll need a shop with VIDA to be able to check the keyless entry receivers and antennas.

I do so hope you are right because I have an appointment with our only Volvo dealership an hour away to see if they can figure it out. However, this is the same dealership we have been to several times that could not fix other issues so we just gave up on ever having the "keyless" entry using the handles and now rely on the key fob... which now doesn't work to unlock/lock. I continue to be disappointed with finding anyone (including the dealership that I would hope has the VIDA you mention) that really does know what they are doing with a Volvo.. at least in our state! Loved it at first but will never own one again because of the service issues.

Unfortunately that sounds like a dealer issue. There is no reason they shouldn't be able to fix any problem on that car (provided it can be duplicated of course)

Well good news the only dealer/service for Volvo in our state was able to fix my key fob problem! They found the fuse to KVM blown and replaced it ... for $330! Volvo's are great cars to drive, great looking cars and tops in safety but you better plan on spending thousands and lots of time keeping them running. We are going to trade it in for a more reliable/reasonable car.

As a dealer who sells mainly Volvo and Mercedes, I recommend that you skip all of the eBay, Joe's Key Fob Shop, Bisquick, Jello Pudding, etc. solutions and simply visit the dealer for a working key fob and repairs.
