lock button on driver door does not work

lock button on driver door does not work
It locks the doors but does bot unlock them, I brought it to Volvo, they told me I needed a DDM, driver door module, they wanted $741.00, $495.00 for the module $71.00 for the software downkoad the rest is labor. Why does it need a software download? Can I find one online and install it myself???

My DDM is completely toast. Windows won't work, power mirrors, or door locks. Consider yourself lucky. 
So when mine started acting up I used to pull the fuse to the DDM and re-install and everything would return to normal. You should try that first.
