Default Looking at a 2002 T5 S60 (advice needed)

1 owner T5 with 110,000 miles, very pristine, services performed on time. Going to look at the car tommorrow. I am looking for some common issues to look for, weak points.. Are the miles considered high for this trim level? The reviews are good on the car in general.. The price is $6995 it will be a cash sale.

I recently sold my s70 after 218,000 faithful miles (it blew a headgasket) I would like to replace the car and this T5 presented itself. How happy will I be with the T5 over my s70?

Thanks for the help. The other car I am looking at is an S80 2.9.... The T5 is higher on my list and the price is a few thousand better.

I ran the VIN at the dealer and the car had the following services done at 84,000 miles.

ECU reflash
Turn signal bulb replaced
Timing Belt/water pump
oil change
Atmospheric Sensor

if those things are done you are sitting pretty

struts maybe soon.

manual or auto?

miles are average but he is way high on price - probably a sold 1k too high. Mine is an 02 T5 manual - also mint, 119k tastefully modded (a few grand in parts) and I wouldnt ask over 6250 for mine.

Well crap, I looked at the car, it is pristine.. BUT it isnt a T5.. It is a 2.4T.. I showed up and the rear badge said 2.4t. I ran the vin and it is a 2.4t. A little dissapointing. I still really like the car.. Just not what I thought it was. I still may make an offer. the car was awesome.

Wow -- sort of odd that the seller didn't know what he had and essentially
misrepresented it as an Upper model.

At least he left the correct badges on it.

I'd run a Carfax before I'd offer a penny. My guess is that you may find a car
flipper at work here. He bought it a short time ago and wants to flip it to you.

Retail is bull ****... the car as a T5 is worth 6k MAX and as a 2.4t is worth 5250 MAX.

feel free to print this out and take it too him but especially since he misrepresented the model i wouldn't trust the guy at all.

It is a midsize dealer. I ran a carfax today and the car is clean and clear. The only thing on the title was the services and registration.

Where are you basing your values off of? i am seeing them priced way above the price offered.. I want to pay a fair value, but the trade in is over this asking price.. Any references..

Thanks so much so far.

I have a 2002 s60 t5.

Check upper engine mount for damage. These go quickly. I would suggest getting a poly one from IPD or EST.
Check trans fluid (burnt/black). Do a flush.

Biggest issues I have had so far and I am at 160k km.

Wow, looks no different then my '01 T5. :P I would be pretty pissed about the misrepresentation. That's just me though. Mistakes happen I guess...
