Exclamation Major Problem

let me start by saying I have an 03 s60.....okay so i have been having a problem with the fuse in position 38 blowing it was a 5 amp....it was recommended that i try a 10 amp so i did and now I have a huge problem, i lost my headlights, my dash lights, my a/c, power windows/locks, and tach....the radio and interior lights work, the car starts and runs I have turn signals and brake lights however the 3rd brake light is not working *****HELP***** does any one have any ideas?? I am really screwed now, I called a local volvo dealer and the man in the service department says it could be the main relay is now gone....I know it would be under the hood but does anyone know which one it is??? PLEASE HELP!!!

okay I fixed it.....man I had thought that I really screwed something up! so here is goes, I put a 10 amp fuse in the 38 slot which is for the alarm......BAD IDEA!!!! when I put 10 amp fuse in unbeknownst to me it blew the fuse in slot 32 which is the central electrical module, this controls your entire dash board....including your speedometer, a/c, power locks, headlights, and the way your engine runs. I had to drive my car home from work like this and it was like a snail compared to a rabbit when the central module is not working. **NOW** comes the wierd part I now have my service airbags warning on and can't clear the message any ideas of what I need to do here....ANYONE???? I hope that this thread will be a learning issue for everyone, learn from my stupidity and NEVER put a higher amperage fuse in slot 38 or you will have issues like I did!!

Have the code read by somebody who has a OBDII scanner and do a research on it. This is going to be your new learning process on your car. U can clear the DTC and run around and see if it comes back, If it does, then u have a prob.

I have an obd ii scanner and ran the diagnostics test on the car to check the engine light and read the codes..... but when i ran the test it came back no codes, so somehow the message concerning the airbags: ***SRS-airbag service urgent*** message can not be cleared with my obd ll scanner anyone have any suggestions short of disconnecting the cars battery to try and reset everything that way?? thanks again!!

you can't reset the SRS msg with your scanner have a volvo specialist or a dealer do it for you, don't know if disconnecting the battery will do it, if you try let us know if that worked for you. I had a guy do it for $25.
good luck

pretty much every time you disconnect some major electrical something, that warning will come on. i changed the dash panel with the heating switches, and the minute i connected the new one, the warning was on. eventually i took the car to the dealer and they took care of it for free

do not unhook the battery this will not work. the computers in the car have small composites in them to help store writable information so the code will still be there. your best bet is to take it to a dealer and have it reset.
