Default Mechanic Says Entire Front End Needs Replacing.

Hey guys I bought a 2003 S60 Non Turbo, FWD, Auto (155k miles) about a year and a half ago. I had to keep getting tire alignments/balances because things just never felt right. Well now I have 174k miles and if I go over 60 my front end feels incredibly loose and sometimes pulls side to side slightly. I took it to a trusted mech. and they said everything on the front suspension was worn and should be replaced before doing any type of long distance or high speed driving. They quoted $2500 for the job. I bought it for $4000 and normally do all work myself but just moved into an apartment so do have the means to do this.

My options - Sell it, or fix it myself which will be incredibly hard since I need it everyday. I am bringing it to another mech for a second opinion but any ideas that you guys have so I dont have to spend a lot of money or time? Thanks in advance.

I very much doubt everything needs replacing. Definitely get that second opinion. Or have them show you the excessive play in the parts

Well it's possible that a lot of the stuff needs replacing.
I bought a s60 with 260.000km on it, and I have replaced all the front components, except for the strut and spring

Hey guys thanks for the input. The second guy said that the tie rods needed to be replaced. He did both inner and outer tie rod ends plus an alignment all for under $400 and all seems to be back to normal, actually better than normal. I have much more responsive steering now.
