Need to re-pin some ecm connectors for ETB
Has anyone here had experience re-pin’ing ecm pigtails? I’ve been staring at the ecm harness on my s60 2.5t trying to figure out how to take the pink primary locking tab out so that I can take six connectors out to install a replacement throttle body harness but I can’t figure it out!

I ended up figuring it out. You have to squeeze the two outside connectors in pic #2 towards the centre and pull. Bad news is that replacing the ETB harness did not fix my issue car is still idling up and down like a yo-yo. Even does it in drive: you really have to keep the foot on the brake firmly!! Man I’m dying to find out what the heck is going on!!!!!

Hey,
What year was your car? what prompted you to want to change the wire harness from the ETB to the ECM? I am curently doing this on my 07 XC70 that likes to jerk when downshifting at lower speeds after it has warmed up. I know this is not transmission related as it would do it ALL the time. I have changed the MAF, cleaned the ETHB (Original Bosch) and attempted to install a cheap ETB that i got off of ebay but dont think it liked it since when i installed it the car was sputtering and jerking like no other. My car runs smooth on the high way and when its cold, but as soon as it warms up and i have driven it after some time, when downshifting it jerks/stutters when downshifting. Like the ETB is getting stuck at those speeds and it should open but it does after hesitation. I am truly hoping this is it, as this would be the last piece to the puzzle other than taking it to get the tranny checked. Thank you for these pictures by the way! very helpful. There isnt much documentation on how to do this.

Tony,
Thank you for your input. How are you so sure about that diagnosis? are there any codes related to these solenoids failing in the transmission? my car has NO codes whatsoever. Also, I am this deep into trying to replace the harness, that i might as well do it. Do you have a clue how to remove the Pink locking tab so I can get to the 6 pig tails i need to replace? I kinda broke one of the clips on the sides ...
does the pink tab SLIDE out?

The abrupt shifting after warmup on the Volvo 5-cylinder vehicles is a classic case of linear solenoid failure in the transmission. As a dealer handling used Volvos for about 20 years, that's our experience.
As the transmission warms up, the ohms of the electromagnetic coils increases and the transmission can no longer respond to the pulse width signal that the ECM is sending to the solenoids. When the solenoid finally does respond, it is sudden and that leads to the abrupt shifting.
You can PM me and we can discuss the details of the repair.
