So, I want to buy an s60 and I have been looking and this one came up. My hangup is this car is a 2001 which seem to have transmission problems. But, this car looks like it was very well taken care of and for most of its life it was taken to the Volvo dealer for service. It has also had synthetic oil its whole life and the transmission fluid is clean. I think I can get the price lower, just wanted to get some opinions on whether to buy or not. My opinion is it is a good car and I think if the tranny fluid is flushed often it seems these transmissions are good. Am I wrong in saying that? Opinions please, thanks!

Not every 01 had trans problems. There are plenty that did not have any issues, or just needed the updated Be servo cover, not a whole transmission replacement.

 

See that is what I thought. If it drives good and I buy the car would you be quick to change the servo cover or don't touch it because everything works fine? I will however do a transmission flush just to be sure though.

 

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If it starts having symptoms that point to the servo cover, you can always change it then.
