Default Hi Guys, just joined and need to pick your brains !!

Ive got a 96 855 T5on an auto box and in the the last few days its been driving me mad. Starts fine and revs free at standing, put her in drive and drive it gently up to around 50 mph and it feels uneasy sort of bunged up not free revving and smooth cant say that its miss firing its just not smooth feels like its a real effort but open it up and its fine pulls like a train, back off and its there again. The only way I can explain it more clearly is it feels like its just about to run out of fuel but obviously it doesnt. Ive checked the normal things plugs leads etc and the next thing on the list is a new fuel filter but my way of thinking is if she pulls ok when I open it up then it must be getting enough fuel ?? Any ideas would be great guys.

Cheers

Gary

That does seem very strange. Any codes in the engine module?

Are all the intercooler hoses all good?

Exhaust flow good out the tailpipe?

Thanks for the reply,

I dont have the under hood code reader mine is in the car, the one that needs to be plugged in to a main dealers system. Checked all pipes she boosts fine its when its not under boost that the problem is there, the exhaust is free flowing nothing blocked.

Maybe a vacuum leak is causing the issue.

There is alot of generic scanners out there that will read the codes on the 850's.

Not sure where you are located but if there is an Auto Zone near you see if they will pull the codes.

Im not as lucky as you guys over there im in Oxford in the UK and Volvo's dont get as much respect over here so most places dont keep the equipment except the main dealers who charge £££££££££££ or should I say $$$$$$$$$$$ but I guess thats gonna have to be my only option. Will give the vacum hoses the once over before heading off in the morning.

Thanks again chap

I believe that is why people in the U.K came up with this.

BTW, they too want¥¥¥¥¥ in Japan.

Watch out for those Mitsubishi in the rear-view mirror.
