I just drove home my new to me 2004 s60 2.4. I noticed that the trunk release does not work on the key or the button, if I use the key I can open it that way.

If the trunk is opened past about 50 degrees or so and I press the button on the trunk lid or the key fob, I will hear the mechanism working, but it does it only once until I close the trunk again.

What could this be? Also when the trunk is closed and I press either the key fob button or trunk lid button, I hear a faint clicking noise on the far left hand side of the trunk but e trunk does not open.
