New owner of '02 S60 w/ questions
Hi everyone. I've always enjoyed reading this forum, but never jumped on. I just purchased a 2002 S60 2.5T AWD with 113K to replace my 2001 S40 that was totaled out when I was smacked into by a Suburban.
I like the replacement, but I have some questions to get it back into tip-top shape. After reading some threads here, I had planned to run a treatment of AutoRx with my first oil change, then I noticed that the manual says not to use any oil additives. I suppose this is a typical warning, but I wanted to see what others would suggest.
Also, I'm running a Techron fuel system cleaner through it, and I'd be interested to hear any other suggestions on things I should be doing to whip this S60 back into shape.
Thanks!

Seafoam is a great start. It does a great job to cleaning out the injectors and burning off any build up. With the car at that mileage there are a few other things like timing belt and Tensioner and Idler Pulley is a must if it has not been done already. Also the serpentine belt, Fuel filter, spark plugs and cabin filter. While im glad you are happy with the new car Please keep an eye on the Transmission for any signs of skips or missing shifts. Check the trany fluid make sure its clean and is Red in color . The dip stick is located low in the engine driver side.It is a yellow dip stick. The 01-02 S60 have notoriously bad transmissions.Just something to keep an eye on.

As far as the other items, the timing belt and tensioner and idler pulley were done about 8K miles ago, as was the cabin filter. I planned to do the plugs, and I'm not sure about the fuel filter. Any idea what is covered with the 112,500 mile service?
And the tranny... I haven't noticed any signs of skips or missed shifts, although it may sound a little rough??? It shifts smoothly, so right now I'm not sure if the gravely noise during acceleration from low gear is the engine or tranny. I'm taking it in next week to have the AWD rear differential controller/module replaced (currently just functioning as a front-wheel drive), so I may have them take a look at these things.
Thanks for the great input! That's why I signed up for this forum!!
Syn oil is fine to use and like what was posted put 1/2 the seafoam in oil and fill your tank with gas put the other 1/2 in there. When the gas reads 1/2 a tank or 150 miles or so change the oil. When i do this i use 1 qt. of cheep oil and put it threw just to make sure all the old black dirty oil and seafoam clears threw. The fuel filter is located passenger side right under the side edge of the car between the doors. Very easy replacement.Take a look and see if the filter looks new. GL
Besides putting seafoam in the oil and gas, other users recommend to use it in the intake as well. Here is how to do it:

I have not done it myself, but plan to do this soon.

I have done this Be very careful not to stall your engine while doing this or you are going to end up with a check engine light. Have some one keep the rpms at 2000 and add it slowly. The exhaust will SMOKE. Seafoam is a every 20,000+ mile thing Do Not over do this treatment.
