Default noise from engine compartment

My 2005 s60 has 63000 miles on it. When it starts up cold there is a sort of repetitive scraping noise coming from the engine compartment. Its noticeable from outside, but doesn't sound terrible.

The noise is on the passenger side and seems to come from somewhere down the side of the engine block where the belts are.

The noise is linked to the engine rpm and I can hear it when I am stationary or moving. But after a couple of minutes of driving it goes away until I start the car from cold again.

Any ideas what might be doing it? The car runs fine otherwise.

Does it get better or worse with turning of the wheel?

I don't think so - I had wondered if it was the power steering pump, but I don't think it is.
