I have a noise that I hear when going over bumps in my 01, S60, 95K miles. It sounds like a creak on the front driver side, at first I thought it was a shock, but I think I would hear a hiss if it was a shock problem. I dropped it off at the dealer today and even took the tech for a ride and we were only able to reproduce the sound once. They have indicated that they can't determine the cause of the sound after having the car in the shop all day. Any ideas on how to pinpoint the issue?

 

I just heard back - the front spring seats are worn out. They are going to replace them and then align the car...to the tune of 700 bucks. Ouch.

 

Ouch is right... For $700, hopefully they'll put in new shocks also. If they are talking a lower seat, it's part of the shock. I they are talking about the top spring seat, they have to take the shock (strut type) assembly apart to replace that part. ($labor$)
