Default P0089 Need help.

Hello everyone,

I have a 2006 Volvo S60 2.5t awd and I have been getting a really annoying code for the past couple of weeks (p0089). I’ve had both the fuel filter and the regulator/sensor replaced and the same code came back on. Right now the engine light turned itself off but I’m afraid it could come back on. What should I do?

did the light turn off on its own or did you clear the code with a scanner? the code is telling you that the fuel pressure (per the sensor) is not reaching the target pressure at the highest or lowest value of the sensor. causes can be a faulty fuel pressure sensor, faulty pump, faulty pump control module, blockage in the line (filter, pinched line, debris) or leakage within the line or system. You've already addressed the most common issues but there's a couple more that could still be in play. Next step would be to wait for the code to return and then go back to a shop equipped to run more comprehensive diagnostics to measure fuel pressure (say during a driving cycle) and do a deeper inspection for leaks.
