Default Performance Mods for S60R

Well im new to volvo and going to be buying a 2004 S60 R Soon. Just want to know what everyone here is doing to them.
I plan on getting 370HP 370TQ out of it right off the bat and leaving it untill its time to get a new car.
Any sugestions? Also is the S60r the best volvo to get for performance aftermarket? or is there a better model?
Sorry im sure this has been asked 100 times but like i said im new to the forum.

Default RE: Performance Mods for S60R

Welcome to the forum.

The s60R is a decent platform to work with. 370 is possible but youe going to want to do a lot more to maintain it at that much power.

1. Get the car up to date by doing STAGE ZERO. This can be found on Volvospeed.com and in my Signature by clicking on the link. Not "MODS", the other link.

2. Dyno your car and get A/F ratios. This will let you know what your working with. Yeah it may say you have 300Hp on that piece of paper from the dealership but a dyno can prove it and disprove it.

3. 3" mandrel bent downpipe to a 2.5" mandrel bent catback system will add some nice sound and power. Also at the end of the catback system put a Free Flowing straight through design muffler like a Magnaflow. No baffles. The most free flowing the better. A high-flow CAT would be a wise upgrade as well. If you plan a turbo upgrade you will want to make that 2.5" catback to a full 3" catback instead.

4. FMIC system. This will be a great improvement over your OEM intercooler. You will gain power.

5. Intake. Keep the OEM intake system and put a K&N panel filter in the box. And or buy the EST intake kit and or create your own intake system.

6. ECU upgrade. I highly suggest you do this last to take into affect all the other mods your going to be doing. BSR PPC, IPD and RICA softloaders are a great idea. I do believe you can still get regular ECU upgrades other then the PPC and Softloaders.

With these few upgrades mentioned above I would be you would be in the 350-370 Hp range. I believe your transmission can handle up to 400Hp. 350-400 most likely. I would add a transmission cooler if you don't have one already. Also with STAGE ZERO get a boost gauge that can read at least 25 In Hg and 25 PSI. Also get a Wideband 02 gauge not a Narrowband 02 gauge and you might want to get an EGT gauge or Oil pressure gauge as well. As for a mounting solution I don't have any ideas for you. You will have to figure that one out yourself.
