power steering fluid color/leak
well first off I just bought my first Volvo about 4 weeks ago, a 2004 s60 88k miles
2.5t automatic 5 speed W/Overdrive
so around the top of the power steering reservoir it leaks very slowly, I figure get a new cap or gasket and that should fix that as I know the other style reservoir has a tendency to leak like that
the other thing is the fluid color I know the new fluid is supposed to be green from 2002 and up? I think I'm not sure
but my fluid is red almost orange so is my power steering fluid actually power steering fluid or is it ATF fluid I know the previous owner only brought the car to the Volvo dealer win witch he bought the car from originally.

power steering fluid
From what I understand, after they went to the P2 body cars, like yours, they went from ATF (dexcron/mercon) for PS to Pentosin (green). The manuals for the cars still said to use ATF fluid, in error. This error was not fixed until later, so alot of vehicles have ATF in there when they should have Pentosin. I will be changing my 02 over to Pentosin but the two fluids SHOULD NOT be mixed. so flush it out and use pentosin or stick with the dex until you can do that
