Default Power steering pump - hard steering

Me again.
2006 S60 2.5T.
We had the power steering pump replaced recently (last week) due to a leak. The pressure/return hoses leak slightly, but the reservoir is full. After less than a week, my son told me he practically lost power steering. Before I replace the hoses, should I clean or replace the reservoir? can the filter be clogged up?

well if you says that your power steering becomes inactive, then i suggest you to check the oil in the reservoir when you have not started your vehicle for more than 12 hours because when we start the engine then due to pump it seems like oil is full but it's not actually. Please check your reservoir.

Thanks, will do. The other thing I found out is to make sure the lower u-joint on the steering column is properly lubricated.
