Power steering pump pulley gilflirted on the highway!!!
My pulley just disintegrated on the highway. I thought I had noticed a crack in the pulley and I now know there was. I believe it was a plastic pulley since all that is left on the shaft is plastic. I now either have to pull and replace the pulley (with a metal one $62.00 +) or just replace the whole pump with pulley. Anyone have a solid recommendation??? Thanks for the input.

As you have 192K miles, it appears the plastic works pretty well.
How big of an issue is the higher cost of the whole pump? I am not sure on the S, but think the pump will need to be pulled to replace the pulley. if so, labor is the same.
The only recommendation I have is if you choose a new pump, replace the tank and flush the system. With wheels of the ground and engine off you can force fluid through by turning the wheel stop to stop. With the return line off, do it until you get fresh fluid out. With the engine on, it pumps out quickly.
Oh, make sure the pressure fittings to the pump are tight.
