Question Question Concerning Transmission

Hello, I purchased an 03' s60 several months back with around 138,000 since then I replace the timing belt along with all the componets for the timing belt....my question is I do not know if the tranny fluid has ever been changed and was wondering with this car now having 142,000 if I change the fluid could/would that creat problems for me down the line not knowing if the fluid has ever been changed/maintained??? I want to do a flush but am concerned that in doing so if the fluid has never been changed it could create problems for me???? any input will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I changed mine at 112,000 miles no problems what so ever, check for the fluid if it is black and smell burnt I think you should change it but yet i dont know if your gonna have problems thats a rosk ur gonna have to take I took the risk and changed mine but nothing happen.. If its running ok and not having problems leave it like that otherwise change it.

i read a lot of people did flushes and it made their shifting much smoother, if you have the 5speed automatic just please make sure to use the right oil MOBIL ATF 3309, and make sure your mechanic or who ever doing the flush NOT TO OPEN THE BOLT ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION!! USE THE DIP STICK HOLE TO FILL IN OIL. IF YOU REMOVE THAT BOLT YOUR 3RD GEAR IS GOING TO HELL.

before you do all that remove your dipstick and smell the oil, if it brown and smells burnt change it. should be okay. no gauarntee tho! lol

I would recommend that you pull the drain plug and drain it then fill it before starting your flush, it should not add very much if any to how much oil you use in the flush and it allows all the sediment at the bottom of the sump as well as what has collected on the magnetic drain plug to be removed. There is risk in anything you do but since you have just acquired this I am assuming you are planning on owning it a while so I would start out with fresh fluid, seems to offer less risk than running it with old bad fluid in the long run.......
