Default Quick knowledge needed!

Howdy fellas! While replacing the headlight on my friend's 2004 Volvo S60 today, it was noticed that a hose leading into the top of the engine was rotted through on both ends and there was what appeared to be exhaust smoke coming out. She is supposed to be leaving tomorrow to make a 6hr drive back to her home town, so my question is: is this part so important that it can cause either harm to herself or her car? Or can it wait to be repaired till she gets home? I am
Clueless when it comes to volvos so any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is the PCV top breather hose that connects to the PCV oil trap located under the inlet manifold.
Needs fixing fairly promptly but with the piece missing the engine crankcase pressure is kept under control so cam seals, rear main seal etc unlikely to blow unless already leaking?
Might make a bit of mess under the hood however.
If that pipe is disintegrating i would assume the entire PCV system is up for replacement / servicing.
