Question Radiator Leak on 01 S60

A local mechanic told me my radiator needed to be replaced. Said the Volvo radiator had a problem because of plastic materials. I am replacing the upper hose and thermostat as I the only leak I can ascertain is from the top hose connection on the right hand side of the car. Has any heard of radiator problems being a common problem with 01 S60?

radiator leaks at the seams of the radiator is common in these cars, not just the '01 S60, especially a 10 year old car with high miles

Aluminum radiators w/plastic tanks are prone to fail in most any application. There are a few shops that have the tools and expertise to flush the core, check the integrity of the core, and replace the plastic tanks. It is a less expensive alternative to buying new. If available, a brass replacement is another option.

I used to mechanic on on-highway trucks and that shop had the plastic tank radiators repaired and the failure rate was almost nil.

Default Its Fixed. Another victory for a 2001 S60 owner. ;)

Thankfully the upper hose and thermostat are in and no more leaking.

Thank you both for your feedback. Sometimes it takes a while to get response.
