Default Rebuilding my S60 Transmission

I would like to attempt to rebuild my 2004 S60 2.5T AWD Geartronic transmission...I'm asking if anyone who uses this site has done this in the past and if anyone knows of a good place to purchase a rebuild kit....The car has 113k and is in great shape other than some recent transmission troubles...I would take this as an appropriate time to be told that I'm bananas for thinking of this as an option and I'd be better off throwing my time and money directly out the window! I've never done a trans before but I'm no virgin to automotive work. Thanks!

Volvo doesn't offer a rebuild kit or rebuild procedure. You would have to contact Aisin Warner, the manufacturer of the transmission.

Thanks! It'd be cooler if Volvo did! There seems to be a large amount of issues with Volvo transmissions.....wonder if the new ones are any better?

They don't offer it because it isn't cost effective for us to rebuild them at a dealership. Are you sure it needs a total rebuild? Could just need a software update, fluid change or valve body (though the valve body isn't cheap either).

Thanks for the information I appreciate it! I'm not sure which direction to head with this vehicle?! Maybe time to sell it? We'll see

I was thinking the same thing on my transmission. I was having hard shifts and flaring in 2 to 3rd gear. Sometimes it caused the tires to squeek. I did the triple oil flush. Drain, replace with the same amount. Drive around the block and repeat. I did this 3 tomes. It took 12 qts Mobil 3309. I was sure it would fix the problem. My first drives were dissapointing. I still had several issues. It took some driving but it all seemed to smooth out. I still have some hard down shifting into first but so far I am happy. There are kits available for rebuilding. I don't have a link so you are on your on. Google is your friend. I did find a you tube video on rebuilding. It was very interesting. This is a job!

He has several videos. It is worth watching even if you decide not to do a rebuild. Knowledge is power!

Lots of problems with the transmissions from these era Volvo's. I bought a salvage one several years ago because I had a similar issue with a slip between 2nd and 3rd gear on my 02' s60. Rebuilding a tyranny is much bigger than my limited mechanical knowledge. But if you are able to do so would be cool if you shared the experience.
