Default Replacing Brakes

I did some searching but didn't find a lot on what people use for brakes on these cars...

Before winter we will be replacing the brakes on my mothers '02 s60 2.4T AWD. 17" wheels if that makes a difference. Most likely front and rear.

I wanted to know what you guys thought for pads and rotors. Do you recommend getting the parts directly from Volvo or do you recommend going to my local parts store (NAPA) and getting them there. Napa offers 3 different levels of brakes. Standard, Premium, and Ultra Premium.

I'm not looking for drilled and slotted rotors or anything like that, but we definitly would like them to last and stop decent. We put a lot of miles on these brakes and last time they were done at the Secor Volvo here in CT.

Just looking for some imput on what to use. I haven't found any prices yet from Volvo, I might have to call the parts department. We're looking for decent brakes, most likely middle of the line if Volvo offers different levels or that sort of thing.

Any imput is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you're looking for value, I would suspect NAPA's Premium range of products to meet your needs. I compared NAPA's prices with two online stores and NAPA's Premium prices compare to the mid-range or OEM equivalent products offered on those sites. Personally, I would just go with NAPA or one of the sites and avoid the inflated dealership prices.

Here are the links so you can compare:

http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/200...ake_rotor.html

http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-S60/Brak...-391-924-5366/

BTW, don't forget to measure the diameter of your rotors before purchasing new ones!

Did certain models come with certain brakes? I know they have different sizes and I need to measure them but was just wondering what got what.

Are you referring to name brand? I know the R's use Brembo parts, but I don't know about the rest. My old pads where labeled "Volvo". I ended up putting PBR ceramics in the front and Mintex in the back. As long as you buy something from a reputable store or website, you should be fine.

My volvo S60 T5 is mixing engine oil with the water. The radiator and the oil cooler is fine. What is happening with it?

Um... this has nothing to do with brakes. Maybe you should start a different thread.

Concerning brake parts,

check out www.fcpgroton.com and buy the brembo rotors and akebono ceramic pads.. They can help you out if you are not sure what is the right part
