Question S60 burnt transmission fluid or smells like it

so this week hasn't been going well for my volvo s60 2.3l l5(turbo). i just got the right side axel replaced, the ball joint was shatter(386$ with labor). they also told me the struts need to be replaced aswell because of leakage that (725$), wich i said ill do that later. and finally the mechanic told me the transmission fluid has burnt odor, i told him if i needed to change it and he said no just leave it, he wont recommend changing it. so do i pretty much have to get a new car cus 4 gran for the tranny is allot for me, or is there something i can do to fix it.

Sounds like your mechanic is taking you for a ride. If the transmission is burnt, it needs replacing. Don't flush but do a drain and fill 3 times. Make sure to use the right fluid.

You need to find yourself another mechanic.
Get a case of Toyota type IV transmission fluid and do a drain and refill procedure X3 200 miles apart between each.

You can do this yourself, is simple. About 3.75 qts come out when you drain the fluid. Refill with same amount.

Yes, burnt fluid will not hold a transmission together, replace it with the right fluid the sooner the better.

YES, very much so

Don't use tire shop mechanics for a volvo, you need a volvo/european shop for work on your car.

Listen and replace that tranny fluid as I explained above ASAP.
