S60 Harsh Shifting Transmission into first gear
Hello,
I have a 2014 Volvo S60T5 and it is starting to periodically give a hard shift into first gear when I stop at a traffic ight etc.
I have read that the is a software update and then a complex re-adaptive driving sequence performed by Volvo. Has anyone had this same issue and did the SW update etc. fix it.
Thanks Ken

The adaptation process is used - to teach the control unit how to produce the smoothest shifts. It is done when a new transmission is installed as it is the quickest way to do that.
The control unit constantly self adapts as you drive. So at this point your TCU is doing the best it can.
A good first step would be to examine your trans fluid. When was it changed? To solve problems like this most start with a or several drain and fills or a flush. If that does not help you may have a valve body problem or worse. (you will read about a servo cover - that does not apply to your car)
Google "gibbons method" for ideas on how to change your fluid. You should only use the proper fluid, fluids that are recommended in the threads you read - not something random off the auto parts shelf that "says" it's compatible. And DON't try any aftermarket additives, you might regret it.
Have you fix the car? I have the same problem hard shift at take off. Oil change didnt fix the problem.
