Default s60 heater core

Hi Guys
I was wondering if anyone had replaced their heater core and had any words of wisdom, mine's developed a really nice leak and I'm trying to decide whether to spend 1,000 with the dealer or try it myself!

Any advice gratefully received

It is kind of a pain.
See if there is a volvo specialist near you that can do it for cheaper.

Check the o-rings before doing anything. It was leaking at that spot on my s60, but its a pain to replace and requires patience.

On further investigation, by stripping the trim from the front footwells / front console side I see that the 'O' rings are bone dry (even with engine running) and the leak is seeping out of the bottom of the heater core.

Of note to anyone else with this problem bear in mond this is a RH drive car:

I had to remove the glovebox to see if I could manage to remove the core myself - the piece of the dash at the bottom where the glovebox is secured to and the air mixer box which runs behind the core to the blower motor under the glovebox are both in the way - looks like a major job to remove these so I'll be finding a friendly Volvo sepecialist intead!
