Default S60 R Questions

Hey guys,I currently have a2005 G35c 6MT,and am intrested in buying a used S60R 6MT for a DD. I have a bunch of questions I was hoping you all could answer since I am not very familiar with the S60.

- What years are the red and blue colors available in?
- What years did Volvo start painting the trip peices on the bumpers and doors? (I think 2005 was the first year for this)
- What years was the orange interior available?
- What years was the body kit available?
- How does the car respond to the regular bolt-ons? (intake, downpipe, exhaust, etc.)
- Are there any issues I should be aware of when looking at a potential car?

If any of you guys are ever intrested in the G35, G37, 350Z, or any of the older Zs or ZXs, feel free to check out my local car club ChicagoZ.com (sorry for the shamless plug)

Default RE: S60 R Questions

Welcome to the forum.

1. http://www.answers.com/Volvo%20s60
S60R
"First introduced in 2003, Volvo's S60R boasted AWD mated to a 300hp / 295 lb/ft engine. The S60R continues a tradition of "R" cars for Volvo beginning in 1995 with the introduction of the 850 T-5R. The R lineup will be discontinued after the 2007 model year."

2. The Sonic Blue color was available in the 2006-2007 models. As I believe this is the blue your speaking of.

As for the red, red was an available color since 2003. Now the reds do vary in shade. I believe your thinking of the Passion Red with Clearcoat, which started in 2004 and is still produced on 2007.

3. Bolt ons are not many I will tell you that. Also they are very very exspensive. However an intake, downpipe and exhaust systems are available for these cars. Check the VolvoForum Resources Thread in the General Volvo part of the forum. It is a PINNED thread. I also have it linked in my signature, it is the second link not the MODS link. Also you can do an ECU upgrade via a PPC system.

4. It looks like there was a body kit for the 04 models and also a body kit for the 05 and up models.

Both colors are the ones I was thinking of.Actually, the picture of the red one is theS60R that is atthe dealership closestto me. It's not a 6MT, but it will give me an idea if I really like the car or not.

I might have guessed there wouldn't be a ton of aftermarket support, but I wouldn't be looking to do anything crazy like a T3/T4 turbo. I just know how restrictive the air flow can be on turbo cars. Thanks for the info.

There is support, just not what you would hope for. We are not like HONDA or Toyota with tons of aftermarket companies. We have a select few.

- 3" mandrel bent downpipe and Hi-flow CAT
- 2.5" mandrel bent catback system with a free flowing straight through design muffler like a BORLA or Magnaflow.
- EST intake or just get a performance panel filter and in the R the panel filter is a cylinder type filter.
-------------------------------

Downpipes: Viva Performance, EuroSportTuning, IPD USA, Evolve (I would go with the other companies over EVOLVE any day, but you make up your own mind).

Catbacks: Viva Performance, EuroSportTuning, IPD USA, Evolve (I would go with the other companies over EVOLVE any day, but you make up your own mind.)

Intakes: EuroSportTuning

*These are the companies that offers these products. You can always have a local muffler shop that can mandrel bent make you a downpipe and catback system. This is the way I would go as your going to be spending a couple grand to put a downpipe, catback and intake on your car if you go premade.

*By the way Evolve does make a body kit for the s60R models.
