Default S60 Radio

I was thinking of fitting a radio unit from a wrecked car.
Question.
Do they require a code or something if fitted to another car.?
The cd player in mine has stopped working, and I figured this might be a quick fix.
Any info would be helpful.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I figured there may be complications. I had already bought an adaptor that connects instead of the rear cd stacker, that I can attach an mp3 player to.
Just thought it would be nice to have the cd as well.
Happy motoring.

I have an 02 S60 and recently had to change the battery. I call Volvo and they told me that there was no code required. I changed the battery and had no problem. Check with Volvo dealer but you should be OK.

The older Volvos had radio codes. I forget which year they switched that away, perhaps it ended with the S70's/C70's of circa 2002 era. Something near that timeframe. And even so, you could take the radio (or the codes off the back) to the Volvo dealership, and they could look up the codes for you on those radios.
