Question S60 T5 thermostat replacement

Have a 2006 S60 T5 that's no longer reaching operating temp. I thought about replacing the thermostat when flushing the cooling system but I've read some things that cause me to hesitate on tackling the themostat. Supposedly there are two types of cooling systems on the 5-cylinder engines, with one of them being a simple, straightforward replacement and the other one being very involved and not suitable for DIY. I believe the difficult one has the thermostat located behind the timing cover and those tend to be on the later models.

Anyone know where it's located on this model? And is it too involved for DIY work.

I had a Volvo S60R (2004) and it was the simple style. I have not seen a S60 with the setup that you are speaking of.
