timing belt replacement confirmation
hi guys,
i bought an used '02 s60 about 6 months ago with 147k KM on it.
the previous owner changed the tranny(pretty happy with that hearing all the horror stories about 02 trannys) for which i have an invoice and warranty and also stated he changed the timing belt but could not show anything for it.
10k KM have passed and i'm very happy with the car but i'm starting to wonder.. what if the prev owner lied about the timing belt? i know about the consequences..
so how do i check if it was changed? can i do it myself? i know i have to remove a cover and check the belt's condition but is that something i can do with basic tools?
also, i know people change water and oil pumps as everything is reachable and i have no ideea if that was done or not. could i also check that and does it mean i should expect some issues down the line or are those parts reliable?
also, sometimes i can hear a very light squeking sound which could be from a pulley. are the pulleys always replaced with the timing belt? are there signs i should watch out for when it comes to driving feeling? so far the car runs smooth as butter.
would be good to get some peace of mind but i'm prepared for the worst as well.
many thanks!!
Cristian
