Default S60 Wheel bolts for V50 17" RIMS

Here is to hoping someone may hold an answer on this for me. In getting snow tires for my '07 S60, I purhcased a set of 235/45/17 snow tires and someone just happened to be selling 17" Volvo RIM's for a great price. They just didn't know what the wheels came off of. Turns out the wheels are 17" by 7" wide and likely came off of a V50.

Now the tires fit and the wheels fit on the car fine, these are 5x108's but I'm being told by the tire shop that I can't use these RIM's because the holes are too big for the S60 wheel bolts that I have. I went to Volvo and they tell me that the new V50 wheels are meant for Volvo cars that use nuts.

This makes no sense as I'm hoping to be able to perhaps find wider S60 bolts to use on these wheels. Is there such a thing? has anyone heard of this before? has anyone been able to address it?

Thinking of checking with the group before giving up on these nice winter rims.

Thanks

Could they be talking about the hub bore size? The S60 Hub bore is 65.1mm and the S40's is 63.4mm. So the wheels should not fit on the car just fine. IIRC the S40 uses bolts just like the S60's. You have a pic of the wheel so we can see exactly what wheel you're talking about???

Mad Matt you are too good at this game. The first tire shop and Volvo couldn't explain this but I took the car to a wheel shop and your analysis is exactly what they echoed. The bore size on the new wheels is too small for the S60. So, either bore out the S40 wheels to 65.1 or just sell them off. The wheel shop says it will be $20-$40 per wheel to bore these out.

Would you foresee any issues with doing that?

Thanks for your insight right off the bat!!

I like those wheels. I'd say keep them. There's no one I'm aware of that's running P1 (S40/V5/C30/C70) wheels on there P2 car (S60/V70/XC).

There shouldn't be any issues if you bore out the wheel to fit, It's only 1.7mm. But I'd defer to the wheel shop doing the work. Just have to make sure they bore it out properly, or you'll get some vibration at speed if it's not centered correctly.
