S60R battery safety--nearly a fire. Please read!
I wanted to tell this story in case anyone else has a rear battery S60 or similar and can avoid what I narrowly avoided. When we bought our S60R we didn't realize the battery (which is in the trunk) was not anchored to the chassis in any way and had been put in backwards. This put the wires touching its surroundings and able to move on hard turns. Long story short, it burned a hole in the chassis (you could see sparks when following the car) and singed and melted the truck cover pretty badly. It would definitely have become a fire if we hadn't seen it in time. (Thankfully we had to boost a dead C30.) Now it's properly anchored down, facing correctly, with wires covered and all is well. I don't know who would take out that nice little bit of plastic that anchors the battery to the trunk, but someone did before we bought it, years ago. Y'all stay safe!
