I have a beautiful 2007 S60R with 33k on her and need to look into brake servicing.
As I understand it the "R" cars use Brembo brake systems?
Questions:
1. Do the rotors need to be replaced with the shoes?
2. Can the rotors be turned.
3. Recommended alternate replacement shoes and rotors? EBC, Brembo, Zimmerman, Napa????
As I am leasing the car should I go for OEM or could I go for the Slotted rotors and ceramic pads?
4. Any special tools to take off the rotors? 12'ft breaker bar, 99mm socket LOL or is it just a jiff to replace?
5. Recommendation on Grease?
6. Recommendation on going ahead and changing the brake fluid? Any snafu's awaiting me here?

As I'm sort of a shade tree mechanic I haven't worked on this babe yet.... as my knees and back are not as young and flexible...

I have an R car and love it. I have put over 450k on volvos. I have never had OEM rotor warp so when you buy replacements get quality.

I live near Summit Point raceway and may just spend the money to upgrade the brakes to run some laps!

Love that tuned suspension.. but the turning radius is hell... plus I have had to many front bumper parking issues and need to get the front nose fixed...I would have preferred that Volvo put a front sensor on the nose to tell you that your about to kiss something and save you from causing nose damage! A well... Love the GPS position.. seats are to die for...
Would you use a KLM air filter? Also is are there any good S60/R tech books online...

Personally, I would not use anything less than the stock Brembos. However, since you might do some track laps I would get slotted rotors and upgraded pads. You should be able to find pads good for street and some track. Plus the slotted rotors look sweet!

I have Evolve rotors and pads and love them.

I guess you meant K&N? I use a stock air filter. If you over oil the filter, it can mess up the MAF sensor. I'd rather not take the chance.

Oh, and just used regular brake grease with no problems.
