Default Sensus update

Last night (most of it) I updated the maps on my 2015.5 V60. The process, finally completed, was not without a few glitches. After formatting, reformatting and trying to start with the called-for 32Gig USMB "thumb drive" only to be told that there was not enough room to copy the file, I used a 64 Gig drive and the process started. It turns out that the file is about 35 Gigs. The process seemed to be very slow with transfer rates of only a few (3 - 3.5) Mbits/sec, even dropping occasionally into the Kbits/sec range. My fibre optic internet connection is fast - advertised as about a Gig/sec. I checked it and it was, indeed, running at 850+ M/sec up and down. The Sensus download continued, eventually reaching ~ 8 Mbit/sec. It had been running for about 5 hours when I called it a night. This AM is was complete.

OK, it was running in the background through a USB connection but this same USB hub will accommodate a back-up program that backs up a 500Gbit SDD in 12 minutes.

My conclusion is that Volvo is using a Commodore 64 as a server, augmented with tape drives from a Control Data 6000 as a memory bank.

Glad it wasn't just me. Last time I had to update one, the same thing happened. I thought it was just a connection issue but apparently not. Luckily the SPA ones are much faster.

You are correct - somehow I downloaded the wrong program from one of the sites - looked again and did another download ~ 16Gbts, not 35!

Update complete with the usual dozen or so "memory stick unreadable" halts. That is some buggy software!

So you didn't actually put SPA maps in your P3, you just dowbloaded the SPA maps to the USB. I don't think SPA maps will install into a P3.

Default Too generous

I think you're being a little generous with the Commodore 64, I was thinking ZX80...
I've been in the low KB/s and have about 39 hours to completion. Running a 100MBs fibre at home.
It's a joke!
