The first thing I have noticed is that there has been a strange noise that comes from the dash near the glove compartment, almost sounds like a click or something and it happens every 11 seconds or so when the car is in drive. That has been going on for several months and today i as driving and a message reading "SRS-AIRBAG/SERVICE URGENT." Is this possibly somehing fuse related? Is there anything I can do before taking it to a Volvo dealer? And would that noise hav eanything to do with it?

 

Yes it very well could. I wouldn't mess around with the airbags. Dealer is your best bet in this instance.

 

Does the noise go away if you change the temp of air flow settings?

 

No, I tried turning the AC on high, low, and off. Then I tried the heater on all settings, and it didn't change anything.

 

If you can try to isolate a little more to exaclty where it comes from.

 

I'll try and record the sound and post it for you later, or give it a more specefic location.

 

Theres a cricle around where it sounds like the sound is coming from. Now I tried to do a video and it wasn't pretty so let me know if your going to need more to help me and I will try and do that but hopefuly this helps. It only happens when the car is in drive, and it isnt every 11 seconds it was different tonight, it happens often atleast every minute.

 

HMM there really isn't all that much right there. Maybe the recirc motor.
Does it happen with the recirc on and off?

 

I am having the same problem on my 2004 2.5t AWD and I cannot figure it out. I have had it at the dealership twice and they either don't hear it or don't feel like taking the dash apart under warranty. The exact same area. If anyone has ideas I welcome your thoughts. It happens regardless of whether the fan is on, off, hi or lo.

 

Try to put a small piece of felt tape and wrap around the hook for the latch inside glove box and see if noise goes away. The SRS messageis a seperate issue. SRS fault may leave SRS light on permanently until problems are fix... If itturned off after restarting the vehicle itsounds like u have a CAN network at the low speed side cutting out intemittently... hope that help
